As negotiations on the revision of the EU Roadworthiness Package enter a decisive phase, the European Garage Equipment Association (EGEA) has submitted an updated version of its position paper to the Council of the European Union and the European Parliament, ahead of the next trilogue meetings. The revised document reflects the latest developments in the legislative discussions and reinforces EGEA’s key priorities for the final stages of the process.
EGEA continues to support the objective of creating a modern, effective and future-proof roadworthiness framework that enhances road safety, contributes to environmental objectives and enables the effective use of technological innovation in vehicle inspection.
At the same time, the EGEA stresses that any revised legislation should establish clear, harmonised and technology-neutral requirements, while leaving room for the inspection equipment industry to develop innovative solutions that improve the effectiveness, reliability and efficiency of vehicle testing.
EGEA will continue to monitor the negotiations closely and contribute constructively to the development of a roadworthiness framework that delivers safer roads, cleaner mobility and effective inspection solutions for Europe’s vehicle fleet.
